Council of Protectors
The Council of Protectors is the governing body of the DAO, consisting of individually elected Protectors, and is a kind of counterweight to the Panel of Experts. It consists of an odd number of Protectors (3 Protectors in the basic version, 1 in the MVP). At the stage of DAO formation, Protectors are assigned by the creator of the DAO (basic version). The settings provide the opportunity to disable/enable the Protectors feature, as in some DAOs this feature may be redundant or will not be implemented on the blockchain.
Protectors are responsible for the compliance of DAO decisions with the goals of the DAO (the interests of its participants) and with the applicable law. The closest counterpart to the DAO Council of Protectors is the Council of Protectors / Enforcers in the classic foundation. Ideally, they should have a lawyer's license and fiduciary responsibility towards the DAO participants.
Protectors participate in "Experts and Protectors Vote" (1 Protector = 1 vote). With the appropriate settings, Protectors can participate in the voting of DAO participants (“DAO Voting”). The decision put to vote is accepted only if the majority of Protectors voted "YES". Protectors can block a decision by exercising their "veto" power.
Protectors receive remuneration for their activities from the DAO Treasury, as well as bonuses in DAO tokens.
